ASUS ROG announced the Zephyrus Duo 16, the world’s most powerful dual-screen laptop. Its standout feature is up to 4K, 14.1-inch secondary screen that recreates the possibilities of a laptop.
Users can integrate apps into ROG ScreenPad Plus to switch between apps or rearrange screens when needed. The stylus is also supported for IPS-level touchscreens.

Design and display
When the laptop is opened, the ROG ScreenPad Plus automatically raises to a 13-degree angle when the base lid is raised. At full height, these two screens provide an almost bezel-free viewing experience.
Additionally, ROG’s AAS Plus 2.0 system takes advantage of 28.5mm of clearance between the screen and the chassis, drawing 30% more air than standard gaming laptop designs.
For the main 16-inch, 165Hz/3ms QHD display (2560 x 1600) of the Zephyrus Duo 16, the screen has been upgraded to a 16:10 aspect ratio that guarantees a 91% screen-to-body ratio.
The Duo 16 has two-panel options featuring ROG’s Nebula Display technology. Nebula displays offer 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, maximum brightness of at least 500 nits, and sub-3 millisecond response times.
As well, the panel has a minimum refresh rate of 120Hz for 4K, 120Hz for QHD, and 240Hz for Full HD resolution.
The first display option is a QHD, 16:10, 165Hz Nebula HDR panel that uses mini LEDs to deliver a maximum brightness of 1100 nits. Nebula HDR is also VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified and offers 512 dimming zones to deliver the world’s most extraordinary HDR experience.
It’s powered by AUO’s AmLED technology and ROG’s Nebula HDR engine, Nebula HDR utilizes accurate backlighting for local dimming to ensure optimal contrast. The second panel, jointly developed with BOE, is exclusive to ROG, and the company named it Dual-Spec Panel.
This display is more suitable for those who want fast reaction times when gaming as it gives users the option to choose between two modes: 4K at 120Hz suitable for a high-fidelity immersive experience and 1080p at 240Hz.
ROG emphasizes that gamers don’t have to choose between a high-refresh-rate display or a high-resolution screen with the Dual Spec panel, which offers both advantages in a single display.
Performance and Space
As for the performance-related components of the Zephyrus Duo 16, the laptop is equipped with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 6980HX series processor and up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti notebook GPU (GDDR6 16GB).
Other specifications include up to 32GB of DDR5 memory clocked at 4800MHz and up to 2TB of PCIe Gen 4×4 storage in a RAID 0 array.

Previous generations of Zephyrus Duo relied on liquid metal thermal compounds for high-efficiency heat transfer. However, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 uses Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal instead.
This material is 17 times more thermally conductive than conventional thermal pastes, ultimately allowing Zephyrus Duo 16 to operate at 15°C cooler temperatures. Due to the high-performance liquid metal, the maximum TGP of the Zephyrus Duo 16 has been increased to 150W.
ROG also notes that indium- and gallium-based compounds do not dry out or lose thermal efficiency over time, giving gamers reliability and peace of mind for years to come.
As is the case with the Zephyrus G14 and G15, the 2022 Zephyrus Duo 16 has a MUX switch. Most modern laptops route frames from the GPU through the CPU’s integrated graphics to provide better battery life.
Meanwhile, the MUX switch allows you to activate a direct GPU mode that reduces latency and improves performance by an average of 9%.
There is a support feature for WIFI 6E and Bluetooth v5.2. As for ports, the Zephyrus Duo 16 includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with DisplayPort 1.4 ports, a pair of USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a MicroSD card reader, and a 3.5mm combo audio Jack.
The ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 laptop comes with Windows 11 Pro.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 2022 release date and price
There is currently no mention of prices for ASUS’ ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 2022 gaming flagship, but last year’s model Zephyrus Duo SE 15 started at $4,100. The 2022 ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 is expected to launch in March 2022.
